I have always been drawn to trees. The variety of colors and textures can represent the full range of human emotions. When I was first conceptualizing this piece, I wanted to find real inspiration for the centerpiece. I somehow convinced my father, grandmother, and husband into driving around aimlessly on a quest for the perfect tree. There may have been some trespassing involved. But ultimately, we succeeded!

This artwork was made with individual pieces of embroidery floss that were glued to the background surface one by one and pushed into place with tiny scissors and a toothpick.
